About Brooke's Book Blog

Well... Since I currently don't have a job, and in an effort to not become stupid, I have decided to read Newsweek's Top 100 books over the next three (maybe four) years. Thoughts and details to follow.

I am a terrible blogger

I finished "Gone with the Wind" a few days ago, and I absolutely loved it! I had been told so many times that the end was terrible, so I knew it was coming. That made it much better. Plus, I knew that Rhett had to say that he didn't give a damn... so I expected that he was leaving. I feel like I am not spoiling anything because I think I am the only person in the whole world that hadn't read the book or seen the movie. I am excited to see the movie now. Also, I think you are supposed to feel bad for Scarlett and to understand that her ends justified her means. I never really cared about her all that much, so I don't think I was as sad to see her lose everything.

Michael drew "Go Tell it on the Mountain" by James Baldwin for my next book. I am looking forward to reading it because it is only 270 pages. However, I am currently reading a book for book club ("Loving Frank"). Keeping up with two book clubs while attempting to read 100 difficult books in two years is not easy. I have to finish "Loving Frank" today, so I will get started on "Go Tell it on the Mountain" tomorrow.
