About Brooke's Book Blog

Well... Since I currently don't have a job, and in an effort to not become stupid, I have decided to read Newsweek's Top 100 books over the next three (maybe four) years. Thoughts and details to follow.

I am good at reading books... not at writing blogs

So... since I last posted, I finished Gone with the Wind, Go Tell it on the Mountain and Walt Whitman's 400 page book of poems entitled Leaves of Grass (terrible pick Beth... but not your fault). The book of poems was difficult to read in large sections at a time, but I think if you were to read one or two poems individually, they would be more enjoyable.

I am going to try to post more. I cheated on the next drawing and picked two books. I am going to Richmond for a wedding this weekend, and we have long flights/layovers, so I wanted to be sure I had enough reading material. Although, as it turns out, my first pick, The Varieties of Religious Experience, is a 400ish page book that I found in the philosophy section of Half Price Books, so I think that probably would have been enough. But I also picked Madame Bovary, and I am very excited to read it. I am making myself finish The Varieties of Religious Experience first though.

  1. Doh! Sorry about the crappy pic. I'll try to do better next time. The Varieties was one of the books I had to read in college for a religion class I took. I didn't actually read it so let me know how it is. :)
